From Guelph Line to Alexander's Crossing

Casino Ajax sits at 50 Alexander's Crossing, Ajax, 91 km east-northeast of Mohawk. That is a straight line, not road distance. Pickering Casino Resort is a little closer, at 85 km, on the same bearing. The toll-free line is 1-866-445-3939.

The track is different too. Ajax Downs is a quarter horse racetrack, while Mohawk runs standardbreds in harness. Casino Ajax is the slots casino on that site.

History here is short and plain. OLG Slots at Ajax Downs opened in 2006, the year the track took the Ajax Downs name. It had opened as Picov Downs. The slots were renamed Casino Ajax in 2018, and if you play cards at Mohawk, read the next section before heading east.

Slots, electronic tables, no poker room

Great Canadian puts slot machines at Casino Ajax, plus electronic table games, a restaurant and a bar. Its listing shows neither a poker room nor any live table games. The poker room is at Mohawk, open noon until 4 in the morning, Thursday through Sunday. The Getaway Restaurant is 19+, and the same Great Canadian Rewards card works at both rooms.

Racing at Ajax Downs runs on a short list of days. Mohawk, by comparison, races five nights a week.

Great Canadian lists none at Casino Ajax. The floor has slot machines and electronic table games, plus a restaurant and bar. There is no poker room either. For live poker, Mohawk on Guelph Line is the closer room from Campbellville.
